Rhys McClenaghan has set a series of firsts for Irish sport – the first Irish gymnast to win a European medal in 2016, the first Irish World Cup series winner in 2019 and the first Irish artistic gymnast to win a World Championship gold medal in 2022 (a feat he repeated in 2023).
Rhys topped the qualifying standings at the Toyko Olympic Games at the young age of 22 – becoming the first Irish gymnast to reach an Olympic final where he eventually finished in 7th place.
